Wedding elements are ideally an expression of your personality, and with as much personality as two individuals can have, newlyweds Jenny and Dave Gerber took the cake—literally!A masterful creation by our very own vendor, It’s all about the Cake, was a central conversation piece at their wedding. Jenny and Dave had two individual weddings cakes made: a sweet, pristine butter cream castle for her…and a mean, rich, chocolate machine in the shape of a tire for him. As if the opposing looks weren’t enough, Dave’s chocolate wheel seemed to spray a muddy chocolate mess all over Jenny’s genteel princess tiers.
As people work more and more to break away from the traditional Queen Victoria white wedding, we see adaptations by different couples trying for a more avant-garde approach. The still-underground trend slowly rising toward the surface is his-and-her wedding cakes. Sometimes the cakes come in one well-executed mashup, some with independent hemispheres, some broken up tier by tier and others, like the Gerbers’ featured cake, are entirely separate cakes. The cakes serve as a focal point at the receptions, made sometimes to complement, and other times to serve as satirical representations, of the romance. And couples don’t limit themselves to a cake platform—we’ve seen cupcakes, cake pops and an array of other decadent wedding treats join in on the fun. What better dessert than the personification of your loved one to stuff into his or her face?

You’re engaged—how exciting! Have the constant wedding daydreams kicked in yet? You imagine your friends and family smiling as you and your beloved share your first kiss as husband and wife, followed by the best reception celebration of your life (maybe in the world). Obviously you’ll want pictures of every special moment to share and walk down memory lane years after walking up the aisle hand in hand.Choosing a photographer is one of the most important decisions of your wedding planning process. We strongly (strongly) suggest using a professional. Your Uncle Ned or your amateur photographer friend Sally may have fancy cameras and take great pictures, but do they have the skills specific to working a wedding? Can they knock out all the family shots, bridal party shots and wedding couple shots in one hour—in addition to capturing every major moment as it happens? Remember, you can’t share that first kiss twice if they fail to get the perfect shot the first time. Trust us, you don’t need that stress on your wedding day.
To help ensure that our couples get awe-inspiring, grab-the-Kleenex beautiful wedding pictures, Wedgewood started offering professional photography package options. The photographers we recommend are skilled professionals we trust with such an important task. As with our bakers or florists, we have selected local photographers based on their skills and commitments to making our brides and grooms happy. You can even preview their portfolios by visiting their websites. There are so many advantages to using Wedgewood photographers, like:
1)Â Â Â They know the property inside and out. Because our photographers shoot at our locations so often, they know exactly where the most picturesque backdrops are.
2)Â Â Â We can give them unrestricted access to the property. As honorary Wedgewood employees, our vendors have more access to the whole property than non-Wedgewood vendors, including using the normally off-limits golf courses.
3)   They know our team and they can follow our/your timeline. Because Wedgewood photographers work with our banquet captains and DJs all the time, running a seamless event is effortless.
4)   You won’t have to wait a zillion years to see your pictures. Timely delivery of pictures is built right into our vendor agreements.Great photography doesn’t have to break your budget. We offer packages at several different price points, varying from location to location. Call your catering sales director or contact our main office (866-966-3009 or email@example.com) for complete package details. On your wedding day, don’t stress about whether Uncle Ned and Sally are capturing the moments you will treasure forever—just enjoy the most special day of your life with your love, and say “cheese!”
