Many have described Generation Y children as people who think out of the box, and with so many technological advances recently, they’re always looking for the “new thing” or “new trend.” With the Generation Y children coming of age and beginning the chapter of marriage, the idea of “going green” is becoming increasingly popular.
Hence, it comes as no surprise that the eco-friendly wedding has become a popular trend. Nowadays, you can find essential yet environmentally safe wedding items relatively easily. Here are some examples of how you can add a little green to your wedding.
Rings. Don’t worry ladies, there are eco-friendly diamonds out there! Search for uncultured diamonds, alternative metals, recycled previous metals and wooden weddings rings. Many of these alternative materials look exactly like normal diamonds or bands but are less harmful to the environment. Tell your grooms they’re also a little bit cheaper!
Dress. You don’t have to sacrifice looking gorgeous for eco-friendly fabrics! Just look for organic cotton, hemp or peace silk. All of these materials are recycled one way or another and make beautiful dresses! You would definitely make a statement wearing something that you knew didn’t harm the environment and also costs a little less than a Vera Wang dress.
Honeymoon. There are many destinations both domestically and internationally that support eco-friendly accommodations. Many of the cleaning supplies are eco-friendly, the food is organic and many go paperless.
When on your honeymoon, why not take public transportation? Many resorts now offer public transportation to and from local hot spots. If you want to use a private vehicle, rent a hybrid. If you’re going to drive, you might as well use something that will not pollute the air.
Go green—it’s not as difficult as you think!
